DROWNING BY NUMBERS

Detroit - How do you follow an exhibition that featured sex with a fish? The curators at Detroit's Museum of New Art (MONA) know a good hook when they see it. So, they angled a showing of Detroit artist Jacqueline Becker's water works.

For the series, Becker built a human-sized aquarium into which she submerged her fully clothed models. The results are some of the most gorgeously eerie photographs ever. The rich colors and tones are oddly reminiscent of pre-Raphaelite paintings, while the content and expression are extremely today. Whether you're afraid of water or not, don't let this one get away! MONA will have an opening reception for Ms. Becker on Saturday, February 2nd, from 6pm until 10pm. The show will run through February 24.
