Born in 1977, Julie Pate was educated at the Maryland Institute, College of Art and the San Francisco Art Institute.

Julie has worked in a variety of mediums, including oil, fiber, sculpture, video and graphics. In the last few years she has focused particularly on nail polish as her paint and origami paper as her canvas, producing work that is both fragile and ethereal. This new work explores the collective imaginings of gender and youth in the 21st Century.
